Halloween!

Pumpkin carving is not my favorite thing, not even close. In fact I really don't like it at all! I mean I like the way they look, I just don't want to be a part of doing it. Luckily Danae didn't mind painting her pumpkin. Kaya wasn't interested at all, and Cameron found a helper!

After spending all day priming and painting my brick fireplace (you can see it in the back) my sweet dad was kind enough to help Cameron carve a pumpkin.

This is Kaya Halloween night. She had on fake eyelashes, I really should have done a close-up. She was a candy corn witch, but didn't want to wear the hat. At one of the houses a man thought she was a french maid!!!

Danae was an "ugly" witch. Her words. She loves to wear black lipstick and color her hair bright colors. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

Mr. Cameron decided on a ninja costume. This was only after serious thought about what costume had the best weapons. I'm being serious!

Our sweet Hailey wore Danae's Mini Mouse costume. She looked adorable!

And here's the whole crew together!

Pictures

I have several pictures I want to share, but I don't feel like typing anything! They are mostly summer stuff, a few birthdays and a sweet new cousin. Sorry, I'm lazy. Just enjoy the pictures.

eight going on 16. Seriously this girl is a handful.

summer's over?

Yes, I realize I might be the worse blogger ever. I can live with it. :) Here's a picture of the first day of school. They wouldn't even stop and pose! They barely turned and smiled for me. What's happening?

I included this pictures just because it's cute even with Cameron's eyes closed. These two are so full of mischief. Seriously, they are TROUBLE! And I love them to pieces.

Random Pictures

This was Cameron's last day of preschool. They dressed up for graduation. He still has one more year, but some of his little buddies graduated.

A few weekends ago we decided to be spontaneous and take the kids camping. We went to Silver Falls State Park. It was so beautiful and we had a lot of fun. One night was my limit though. Hailey has never eaten dirt before, but in the 24 hours we were there she ate dirt 3 times!

We hiked to a couple of the water falls. They were so pretty. The kids thought it was pretty cool. They also like when Brad decided he needed to cool off. If you couldn't tell his head is soaked. He is such a nut!

We are still alive!

Sorry about the lack of posts. I really don't have an excuse! At the end of April Brad and I took a trip to Austin, Texas. We didn't take a ton of pictures. What can I say, the kids weren't with us. Here are a few pictures that I did take. Proof that everything is bigger in Texas. This doughnut was HUGE! Don't worry we didn't even come close to finishing it.

Here are a few pictures of Hailey. She is growing up so fast! We all just adore her. Out of all the kids she is the most easy going. I guess being #4 you kind of have to be. :)

I seriously love her in pigtails! Hugh, they are too cute.

Repurpose

I recently found this super clever idea to turn your mini blinds into roman shades. I decided to attempt it in my kitchen. I didn't want to buy fabric. I mean what if it turned out horrible and I didn't want to even look at it. I ended up using an old table cloth, and I have to say I really like the results. It wasn't hard to do at all. It didn't even require any sewing. If your interested you can find the directions here. I also have to add that even Brad thought it was a good idea. To quote "I've always thought blogs were a waste of time, but this was a good idea." hmm...At least he's learning.

handmade gifts

So, Danae recently attended a party for a little friend from school. I always have a hard time picking a gift because as a Mom who gets sick of plastic toys I am sensitive about what I choose to buy for other kids. Well, this time around I decided to make the gift. I made a little apron using this pattern. I embroidered an E on it (her name obviously starts with an E) and I also used a button because I realized too late I didn't have any Velcro on hand. I really like the elastic in the neck strap... a lot. I also found this cute pattern that includes a pocket and has a chef's hat pattern. If I would have had Velcro I probably would have made the matching hat. Oh well. I think it's worth noting not everyone is a fan of a handmade gift. Some people can't or don't appreciate the time that goes into it, and I think when making gifts we/me should keep this in mind. Specifically Danae has requested we buy all future gifts for her friends.
